Moderate speech pronunciation delay and disorder for 4 year old
This little boy was having some local NHS therapy out of County but the parents did not feel it was very satisfactory and felt their son was making very slow progress.
At initial assessment his speech was difficult to understand at times, but he was a sociable boy and an able communicator despite this.
In view of the distance travelled to see me, it was not practical for me to offer regular therapy so a home programme was devised with resources and following measurable treatment outcome plans.
The family carried out these home programmes very effectively. There was also liaison with teaching staff and his local NHS Therapist. This little boy was seen for 5 assessment, therapy and review appointments over the next 10 months and made excellent progress.
He was discharged aged 5 years old with only minor immaturities with both pronunciation and sentence structure. It was predicted that these would resolve with language practice, experience and maturity.
